Sleepless in Seattle

“Sleepless in Seattle” is a funny, touching tale of star-crossed soulmates. Widower Sam Baldwin reluctantly opens his heart on a talk-radio, called in by his son Jonah in search of a new wife for his father. When Annie hears his story from across the country, she is immediately captivated by him and believes he may be her soul mate. She soon calls off her engagement and writes to Sam, a man she has not even met, asking him to meet her at the top of the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day.
No other on-screen couple has chemistry like the one between Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Though they do not share much screen time throughout the movie, the viewers become progressively invested in a romantic ending atop the Empire State Building as they slowly move a step closer to meeting each other. This film is a timeless romcom classic that will bring the romantic notion of destiny to mind.

You’ve got mail

In person, Kathleen Kelly and Joe Fox loathe each other as he owns the corporate Foxbooks chain store that just moved in across her boutique bookstore. Online, they are close confidants who share their innermost thoughts. When Joe discovers that his cyberspace lover is in fact Kathleen, he struggles to reconcile their in-person relationship in wish to retain their cyber romance.
“You’ve got mail” is a film produced ahead of their time: it offers a window into the dynamics of online dating. The plot tantalizes the viewers as Joe catfishes Kathleen, but ultimately ends with a sweet ending as he redeems himself. This film does not disappoint the viewers as to humor or romance even twenty years after its release — and neither do the lead actors. Tom Hank and Meg Ryan’s chemistry once again proves undeniable.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

“Bridget Jones” is a romantic comedy film series based on Helen Fielding’s novels. The series consists of Bridget Jones’s Diary, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and Bridget Jones’s Baby. In the first film of the series, “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, singleton Bridget Jones, who struggles with her age, weight and looks, is determined to improve herself while she looks for the perfect man. She keeps a personal diary in which she comments on every subject matter in her life, in which she repeatedly encounters embarrassing situations even as two men contend for her love.
Throughout the movie, Bridget gives the viewers a good laugh through her awkward incidents and profane thoughts she scribbles in her diary. Though this movie is more comical than romantic, the complicated love triangle evolves into a sweet, promising love story. It is worth to watch how the most average woman in her 40s winds up in between a humorous competition of two men vying for her love.

The Proposal

Margaret Tate is a professionally well-respected but personally loathed senior editor at a New York publication company. To avoid deportation as a Canadian, she suddenly devises an agreement with her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to marry her in return for a promotion. Soon, they visit Andrew’s family in Alaska, where the relationship that began as a fraud develops into a genuine love affair as the couple comes to realize what they want in life.
“The Proposal” is an iconic movie when it comes to discovering true love from a hostile business relationship. The manner in which Margaret, an uptight career woman, tackles the idea of engagement and love is certainly entertaining to watch. The plot is slightly cliche, but this is a solid film that can fulfill anyone’s craving for a pleasurable, old-fashioned romantic comedy.
