On April 27, Upper School principal Mr. Andrew Lowman announced changes to the school’s modified graduation plans. Initial modifications, which were announced on April 14, did not include a graduation ceremony due to COVID-19 coronavirus safety measures. Final day of classes had been moved to May 7. Both student and parent reactions to these changes likely encouraged the administration to revisit their plans; now, re-adjustments to the timeline means that seniors will have a more traditional ending to their senior year.
The last day of classes will be moved back to the original date, May 15. An outdoor graduation ceremony will be on May 23. Due to government regulations, families will not be able to attend; however, the ceremony will be livestreamed. Speeches and musical numbers will be pre-recorded and combined into a full graduation ceremony video.
The Upper School administration is working together with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to organize a time when families can take photos with their graduate, wearing caps and gowns.
