Basketball Teams Score Second

Travelling to the International School of Kuala Lumper, the varsity basketball teams proudly brought back silver medals. Both teams put up a strong game in the championships, earning the respect and support from live-stream watchers, other IASAS schools’ basketball players, and even the ISKL crowds themselves. ‘After every shot was made, a stream of TAS people would comment about it on the live stream chat,’ said Emily Lin (12). Double Happiness: Tennis teams both earn Gold

In the year of 2010, like a resurrected prophet, TAS IASAS tennis athlete’s success in Jakarta brought memories that seem almost ancient in TAS IASAS history. The last time boy’s tennis placed first was in 1994, a year that is as old as underclassmen members on the team. NBA Games “Air” in Taiwan

Ever since the start of the 21st century, the National Basketball Association has been sending various teams to different countries outside the USA to play pre-season exhibition games. Since 2005, NBA teams have been sent to nations such as England, Spain, France, and China to square off against each other as well as other top-notch Euroleague squads.
But on the island of Taiwan, the question often came to avid Taiwanese NBA fans: will there ever be a game on this little island of ours? The NBA responded to this question in a way that greatly pleased the fans of Taiwan. The Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers met for the first ever NBA game hosted by Taiwan on October 8th, 2009, at 7:30 PM. The game took place at the Taipei Arena. (continue reading…)
Volleyball Teams Put Up Good Fight

First season sports jumpstarted the year for the TAS community with the responsibility of hosting two IASAS sports; the only two sports that TAS would host during the school year. Volleyball games were located in the upper gym and lower gym throughout the three days of the tournament. Athletics Counsel Club president, Michelle Shea (12) said, “We basically had been planning the volleyball IASAS since the beginning of the year.” Although Michelle noted that the “ball rotators were scarce”, with the help of other group members, she was still capable of “getting everything together” by the time IASAS arrived. Soccer Players Return with New Goals

It was just last year when the boys’ and girls’ soccer team proudly stepped off the home field with victory in their hearts. With the girls taking bronze and boys taking gold marked an accomplishment in TAS history. The last time one of the soccer teams triumphed in the tournament was fifteen years ago when TAS boys came first for four years in a row, from 1991 to 1995. “With [last year’s] experience of being at the top, a change in their play will be visible,” said Kevin Yang (10).
