Susan Boyle: A Dream come True

by on Feb.23, 2010, under Reviews

Some people believe that appearance is the only way fame and success can be obtained. However, in the spring of 2009, a forty-seven year old woman from a compilation of villages in Blackburn, Scotland, changed the view of the world of the ideal celebrity. Susan Boyle was her name.
Susan Boyle’s first appearance in stage was on April 11, 2009 on the third season “Britain’s got talent”. Right from the moment she told the crowd that she wanted to a professional singer like Elaine Page, the audience and even the judges stared down upon her in silent mockery. However, as soon the first note of the song, “I dream a dream” slipped off of her tongue, the crowd was in awe and disbelief. Even one of the judges, Amanda Holden commented, “I honestly think that we were all being very cynical, and I think this is the biggest wakeup call ever.”
Numerous songs in the playlist on the album, “I Dreamed a Dream”, feature artists like “Madonna (“You’ll See”), the Rolling Stones (“Wild Horses”), the Monkees (“Daydream Believer”) and Skeeter Davis (“The End of the World”) join standards like “Amazing Grace,” “Cry Me a River,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Silent Night” (as well as the title track, of course)” (NJ). The baroque settings that her Producer Steve Mac creates for Susan Boyle, truly sets her in a comfort zone. “She is the calm, collected, technically flawless voice at the center of it all,” said Steve Mac.
Susan Boyle has not only earned her fame by winning the hearts of people around the world, but has also inspired the spirits of many. Her achievement of starting out as a joke at an audition and turning out to be a professional female artist is more than just a simple encouragement. Her pursuit of a dream shows the world that a person can do anything with endeavors and persistency, and her CD of the dream is symbolic of this…
Susan’s talent has been exemplified in her achievements. On December of 2009, Susan had the biggest selling album of 2009 worldwide. “Even Eminem’s Relapse lost its title as the biggest first-week opener of the year in USA to Susan Boyle, who’s I Dreamed a Dream sold over 700,000 copies in the first week.” (Celebrifi) In addition, Susan Boyle had the most watched YouTube Clip of 2009, largely ahead of second place. Forty seven years and still going strong, her enthusiasm will lead her to future greatness.
All in all, Susan Boyle’s pursuit to chase the dream of becoming a professional singer has enthused millions, and her success shall be remembered forever because of her accomplishments. Her idol Elaine Paige commented, “She is a role model for everyone that has a dream.”
