It’s nearly Chinese New Year! As the beginning of the new year approaches, the Blue & Gold will be opening up entries to our first letter-writing contest, open to students in grades 9-12* at Taipei American School. Here’s how it works:
1. Write a letter to the Blue & Gold in under 500 words. This can be:
a) an open letter addressing the Taipei American School community, or
b) a response to any news, features, or opinion article published in the Blue and Gold. The article you’re responding to must have been published in the past year, and may be from either a print edition of the Blue & Gold or blueandgoldonline.org.
2. Submit your entry to The Blue & Gold website in the form below before March 12, 2018.
3. The winners will be awarded publication in the March 22 edition of the Blue & Gold and $888 NT. All entries will be considered for publication in the Blue & Gold, in print or online.
4. For examples of what we’re looking for, explore the New York Times’ Letters to the Editor, previous letters we’ve published, and the Blue & Gold opinions section.
Happy writing! Remember, you can also write a letter to the Blue & Gold at any time by emailing [email protected], whether or not there is a contest running.
*Note: students in Honors Journalism II are ineligible.
