This October, two TAS teams entered the International Public Policy Forum (IPPF) competition, where high school students from around the globe participate in written and oral debates.
After passing the qualification round where students had to write an essay either affirming or negating a topic resolution, both TAS teams advanced into the top 32. They participated in a written debate competition where schools volley papers back and forth via e-mail.
Currently, both TAS teams have made it to the top 16, where they are repeating the debate process again, one against a school in Slovakia and another against Greenville High in North Carolina.
The top 8 schools will then win an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to compete in the IPPF Finals. For the last competition, teams supplement their written advocacy with oral argumentation. Ultimately, the IPPF Champion wins a $10,000 USD grand prize and the Bickel & Brewer Cup!
