On May 7, an art reception was held at the art + innovation gallery after school, where the artworks of school staff and faculty members were showcased. The artworks on show were diverse, ranging from photographs to handicraft works. The staff and faculty included Mr Costello (US visual arts teacher), Mr Trumpore (MS math teacher), Ms Diana Kuan (secretary at superintendent office), and Mr Openshaw (US video production specialist). Mr Openshaw’s photos featured a cultural festival unique to an aboriginal group in Taiwan, the Saisiyats. “For me, each picture tells a story. And these pictures tell the story of younger generations struggling between their cultural roots and the modern world. It’s really important for the younger generations to remember their heritage and culture no matter where they are and what they do,” said Mr Openshaw.
