IB Dancers Perform with Passion

IB+Dancers+Perform+with+Passion

With the cameras set up and the dancers warmed up, it was the last time the dancers performed in front of a TAS audience this year. The dancers had been preparing in the dance studio for months, waiting for the clock to strike four in the afternoon on February 6 .
The IB dance classes performed 11 solos, five duets, and one group performance with seven dancers. A week later, their dances were recorded to send to the IB graders in the spring.
According to Upper School dance teacher Ms. Flemming, students are assessed on their clarity of intent, use of craft, and their overall impression.
The dance studio is an intimate and familiar space to the IB dancers. “It felt really personal,” said Charis L. (11), who performed a duet with Kenny L. (11) for a piece choreographed by Diana H. (12).
Even under pressure, the dancers performed with accuracy and passion. Their performances went smoothly and feedback was given.
