Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in China and the rise of infected citizens in Taiwan, Taipei American School–under the government’s direction–decided to close its campus until Feb. 25.
Classes were scheduled to start on Feb. 3 following the end of the Chinese New Year Holiday. However, on Sunday evening, Head of School Dr. Sharon Hennessy sent an email out to parents and faculty members postponing the start of school.
“At times like these it is especially important that we put the health and safety of our students, employees, and families of all community members at the top of our priorities,” Dr. Hennessy said in her email. “I believe we are following the safest path while continuing teaching and learning, and planning for supplemental opportunities when school is again in session.”
To ensure that there are no learning gaps, digital learning for all three divisions were implemented on Feb. 6; this will continue until Feb. 24.
