Word on the street is that this year’s, StuGov is considering making the winter Frolic a Sadie Hawkins. The Blue & Gold asked students what their opinions were regarding this possible change. Is it time for the girls to step up to the plate, or should we maintain the status quo?
Crystal Y. (12): “I think it’s about time we have a Sadie Hawkins’ dance because the guys are very unwilling to go out of their comfort zone to ask the girl of their dreams. Maybe they’re not gutsy enough.”
Ingrid W. (12): “I know some people are really into it because they don’t like going alone, so that’s why lots of girls asked guys last year. I don’t really have an opinion; to each his or her own.”
Rachel T. (12):” For Frolic, it’s not really a date-based kind of thing so not a lot of people will ask. Again, there’s also prom to think about. I think prom is more date-based.”
Eli M. (10): “I think it’s pretty cool. Girl power, yeah! No, I don’t think it would be awkward if I had to ask a guy.”
Austin H. (10): “I don’t like it. Girls aren’t used to asking guys so no one’s going to get asked!”
